Sweedeedee, located here in the heart of North Portland, is just as cute as cute can be. Get ready for cuteness overload when you walk into this place but it is almost just too much to handle.
Have you ever been to a place where you immediately look at the menu and want to order one of everything? That’s kind of the case here. All of the ingredients and flavors are paired so well together, a bit of healthy and indulgent all available in one. This place is part breakfast house/lunch house/dessert house/coffee drink house/take out a slice of honey pie with your sweetie and eat it with some French press house because it’s just too cute. Sorry if there were a lot of houses in that one…
From seeing all of the Instagram shots of this place, I knew that I had to try the honey pie. With those bit salted chunks on top? Hello YUM! It’s the kind of pie that’s so good that you need your own slice ’cause you won’t wanna share. Just warning you now. I went for the “Breakfast Board” with an over-easy egg, the best bacon I’ve ever had (chewy, flavorful and crispy all in one), salad greens, homemade brioche bread, orange zest compote, a semi-strong and flavorful soft white cheese, and a few apple slices. It’s the best thing to order if you’re feeling indecisive (story of my life after reading menus!) and want a sample of everything. My guy had the breakfast burrito which was absolutely killer. It was the heaviest breakfast burrito I’ve ever handled in my entire life. Hefty, delicious, and a worthy deal.
I also had the elderflower spritzer which I was a little underwhelmed with. The “soda” part was a little flat, and there wasn’t enough of the syrup or sugar or whatever it was. Something was missing. It was decent, but I probably won’t order that again.
They spin records, they have lovely looking pastries, muffins and cinnamon rolls to drool over, cute waitstaff, nice vibes, and a lovely menu. I’m pretty excited about this place and can’t wait to go back and try something different. It all may sound a bit too twee, but after all this is Sweedeedee.
